Temperature limit
The long-term use temperature is recommended to be ≤2000°C to avoid grain coarsening and strength loss at high temperature.
Atmosphere control
In an oxidizing atmosphere (such as air), the surface oxide film will thicken, but it will not affect the use; hydrogen embrittlement should be avoided in a reducing atmosphere (such as hydrogen).
Avoid pollution
Niobium is easy to react with elements such as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, and needs to be used under vacuum or inert gas (such as argon) protection.
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean immediately after use to avoid residual corrosion from molten salt; dilute hydrochloric acid or ultrasonic cleaning can be used.
Safe operation
Niobium crucibles are relatively brittle, so collisions should be avoided when transporting; heat-insulating gloves should be worn at high temperatures.
