A high-quality tin ingot should have a ​​clean, smooth, and defect-free surface​​:

​​Acceptable Surface Finish:​​

✅ ​​Smooth, silvery-white appearance​​ (no major discoloration) ✅ ​​Minimal dross (oxide layer) on top​​ (can be scraped off) ✅ ​​No cracks, pits, or excessive roughness​​ ✅ ​​Uniform shape (rectangular/square ingot with clean edges)​​

​​Defects to Avoid:​​

❌ ​​Excessive dross (black/gray oxide buildup)​​ → Indicates poor refining. ❌ ​​Pitting, cracks, or porosity​​ → Suggests impurities or cooling issues. ❌ ​​Dirty or contaminated surface​​ (oil, grease, foreign particles). ​​Surface Treatment (if needed):​​
